Don’t lose customers because of this one thing…

Today, I want to share a tutorial about an incredibly powerful, FREE (!!) marketing tool.

Here’s the kicker and the reason I’m sharing this random story: the outdated Google profile almost made me miss that gem, and WORSE, buy from somewhere else.

Before I left the shop, I quickly chatted with the owner, showed them how to update their profile, and even left them a glowing review. But this got me thinking—how many customers have businesses unknowingly lost because of neglected Google profiles?

Here’s how you can create or audit your “Google My Business” profile in just five minutes:

  1. Log into Google Business Profile Manager. Make sure you’re verified as the business owner—easy to do with a quick phone or postcard verification.

  2. Check and update your basic info (hours, address, phone number, etc.). Add as much info as you’re able.

  3. Add fresh photos of your space, products, or happy customers. Pro tip: candid, natural shots win hearts. AKA, get some UGC for this section!

  4. Ask clients for reviews and respond to them—good or bad. It’s like waving to passersby who paused to look in your window.

Ideas to get more reviews from your customers / clients:

    • Offer 15% off next order / service if they leave a Google review!

    • Add a QR code on your packaging / at your checkout desk that takes customers directly to your Google page.

    • Set up an automated email sequence with a kind note thanking them for their order / working with you, and add a link directly to your Google page.

  5. Explore your profile insights to see how people are discovering you. It’s free business intel!

Don’t let potential customers skip your business because of an oversight that takes just minutes to fix. Your Google profile is a FREE virtual handshake—make sure it’s saying, “We’re here, and we can’t wait to meet you!”
