How we’re studying 2024’s inquiries, and how you can too
As the year winds down, we’ve been taking a closer look at our 2024 inquiries, and wow—there’s a lot to learn! If you’re not already tracking where your inquiries come from and what they tell you about your business, you’re missing out on some goldmine insights.
Here’s some behind-the-scenes of what we’re learning and how you can do the same as you start planning for 2025:
1. Lead Sources:
For us, Instagram and word-of-mouth referrals were the MVPs this year. Knowing where your inquiries come from helps you double down on what’s working (and rethink what isn’t). Are your paid ads pulling their weight? Is your social media actually driving leads? Could you tweak some facet of your process to more effectively serve your clients and drive their desire to recommend you to their friends?
2. Seasonality:
January and September are consistently our busiest months for inquiries. If you’ve noticed similar seasonal trends year over year, use them to plan ahead! Those big revenue months? Perfect for digging deep into client work and be okay with slowing down your marketing efforts. The slower ones? Great for catching up, investing in marketing and business development, or even scheduling a much-needed breather.
3. Project Timing:
Most of our 2024 inquiries wanted to start projects ASAP or within a month. This tells us our clients value speed and flexibility, and we’ve adjusted our services to meet that need—like our Sprint service, which has been a huge hit this year. This is one of our key differentiators as an agency, so seeing this trend in our data further confirms we’re offering the right things.
4. Budgets:
The primary budget selection from our inquiries has been in the $5,000 range, which makes sense considering our Sprint service has been our most popular service. If you’re seeing consistent budget ranges, make sure your offerings and pricing clearly speak to that audience, OR make marketing adjustments to reach a different audience.
Your takeaway? Your inquiries are more than just emails in your inbox—they’re like breadcrumbs, leading you to smarter business decisions. Whether it’s fine-tuning your marketing, planning for revenue spikes, or prepping for slow seasons, there’s so much you can learn.
