Your Squarespace Tip—

Increase engagement and enhance the visual appeal of your Squarespace site by using the Scrolling Block. (Maybe our new favorite feature), the Scrolling Block allows you to create dynamic, eye-catching content that moves as visitors scroll through your page. This can help highlight important information, keep visitors engaged, and provide a more interactive browsing experience.

How to set it up:

  1. Add a Scrolling Block:

    • In the Home Menu, click Pages.

    • Select the page where you want to add the scrolling content.

    • Click Edit and use the + button to add a block.

    • Choose Scrolling from the block options.

  2. Customize your Scrolling Block:

    • Add your copy to your Scrolling Block.

    • Adjust the scrolling speed and direction to create the desired effect.

Your Shopify Tip–

Increase conversions with real-time customer support by installing the Tidio app on your Shopify store — Tidio offers live chat functionality, allowing you to interact with your customers instantly from your phone. This immediate support can help answer questions, resolve issues, and guide customers through their purchase journey, significantly increasing conversion rates and improving customer satisfaction.

How to set it up:

  1. Install Tidio:

    • From your Shopify admin, go to the Shopify App Store.

    • Search for Tidio Live Chat.

    • Click Add app and then Install app to integrate Tidio with your store.

  2. Set up your Tidio account:

    • Once installed, follow the prompts to create a Tidio account or log in if you already have one.

    • Customize your chat widget's appearance to match your store’s branding.

  3. Configure chat settings:

    • Go to your Tidio dashboard and navigate to Settings.

    • Set up automated messages to greet visitors, provide FAQs, or offer discounts.

    • Enable Chatbots to assist with common queries when you’re not available.

  4. Monitor and engage:

    • Use the Tidio app or web dashboard to monitor incoming chats.

    • Respond to customer inquiries in real-time to provide assistance and encourage purchases.

This week’s Q&A: ALEX HECHART OF HOME WITH HECHART

On motherhood and entrepreneurship

How did you decide to start sharing more personal content, and how are you integrating that into your existing interior design business?

After closing the in-person retail side of my business, I realized how much I missed the daily joy and excitement of sharing things I love with others. While interior design allows me to share my passions with my clients, it’s always tailored to their specific needs and overall style. I missed the broader joy of sharing fun finds that I felt many people would enjoy. So, I decided to start sharing more personal content on my personal instagram. It's been so much fun connecting with others, and I’ve loved promoting and sharing other brands that I like and believe in.

You just became a mom a little over a year ago. What’s it been like balancing being a new mom and running a business? What decisions have you made that have helped / hurt you in that journey?

Balancing motherhood with running a business has been a learning experience, to say the least. One of the most important decisions I've made was to prioritize flexibility in my schedule. This has allowed me to be present for my daughter while also staying engaged with my work.

On the flip side, I've learned that trying to do everything myself can be overwhelming. Recognizing the importance of delegating tasks and asking for help has been crucial. Surrounding myself with a supportive team and leaning on family and friends has made a world of difference.

Another key decision was to close the in-person retail side of my business, which, although difficult, allowed me to focus more on my family. This shift has given me the freedom to create a balance that works for both my personal and professional life.

Overall, I've realized that every family is unique, and what works for one may not work for another. I've learned to really lean into what works best for us at any given moment, understanding that what works now might change in a few days, months, or years. Being flexible and allowing the Lord to guide us has been essential in helping me mange motherhood and entrepreneurship.
