Content not reaching your target market? Quick Instagram tips inside—

A business’s Instagram presence can be vital to its growth and success— you can connect with so many people who would never have heard of you otherwise!

But sometimes, no matter how much effort you put into your content, it feels like people just aren’t seeing it. Thankfully, there are steps you can take to maximize your reach and engagement.

Tailor your posts to the algorithm—

  • An important way people discover new accounts is through Instagram’s Search feature. Make your posts appear in Search results by including relevant keywords in the captions and hashtags, as well as your account’s display name and bio.

  • You can reach new audiences using Instagram’s Collabs and Tags features. Post a Collab with someone else—a partner creator or business—and the post will be shared with both of your followers. You can also tag other relevant accounts in your posts, and your post will be visible on that account’s Tagged page for people to discover.

  • Content that is original and engaging performs best on Instagram. If people have seen something like your content before, they won’t be as interested. Emphasize what makes your business unique—what do you have to offer that people can’t get anywhere else? This also means avoiding reposting content that you’ve used before.

Take advantage of other Instagram features—

  • Get a read on how your content is performing by checking your Insights. You can see the number of accounts you’re reaching, broken down into followers and non-followers. You can look for patterns to figure out what kind of content performs best.

  • Instagram recently introduced new ways for users to view the Feed. One of them is Favorites, which shows posts by accounts that users manually add to a list of Favorites. Encourage followers to add your business’s account to their Favorites list, and they’ll see your content even when they’re only viewing their Favorites feed!

  • Instagram only recommends accounts to non-followers if content doesn’t violate the Community Guidelines or Recommendation Guidelines. To check your account’s recommendation status, go to the Settings and Privacy menu, tap Help, and then tap Account Status. You can to make sure your account can be recommended to non-followers

In a perfect world, your content would magically appear in front of the people who need to see it most. Sadly, it doesn’t always work that way! But there are always steps you can take, like the ones here, that will make it more likely for your target market to discover your business.

Happy posting!
