Paths to Higher Profits Paved by THESE 3 Website Analytics Types

How can you be sure your website is effectively engaging as many prospective clients and/or customers as possible? Analytics.

Below are the three most important analytics types to track on AT LEAST a monthly basis, and how to do so in Squarespace and Shopify:

Conversion Rate—

Your conversion rate is the percentage of website visitors who place an order or submit a form relative to the total number of visitors. Your conversion rate can show you what grabs your customers’ attention and what keeps them engaged long enough to complete your website’s sales funnel.

  • If you’re a Squarespace Commerce subscriber or have connected a payment method to your site, you can view your conversion rate by entering your Analytics tab, then clicking Sales.

  • If you sell on Shopify, click Analytics on the left sidebar of your account home page, then Reports. On the Behaviorcard, under Reports, click Online store conversion over time. Choose the date range you want, and then view your conversion report.

Bounce Rate—

This is the percentage of website visits during which the visitor only viewed one page before clicking away. Your bounce rate can give you an idea of how effective your home page in particular is at keeping visitors engaged, so you can make adjustments as needed.

  • You can find your Squarespace bounce rate by viewing Analytics, then Engagement, then Site content.

  • For Shopify, go to Analytics, and click Reports. Then, under Acquisition, click Sessions over time. Choose the date range you want to check, and then click Edit columns on the bottom right, and select bounce rate.

Traffic Sources—

See how and where people are finding your website by checking its traffic sources. Some common traffic sources are search engines, emails, social media, and ads. This information can help you prioritize the most successful aspects of your business’s online presence.

  • For Squarespace websites, view traffic sources under Analytics.

  • Find your Shopify traffic sources on the main Analytics page, under Online store sessions by traffic source. You can also see which traffic sources contribute to your conversion rate under Sales by traffic source.

These three analytics types offer SUCH valuable information about how prospective clients and/or customers are engaging your website. And the better you understand your website visitors, the better you can convert them and attract more.
