Sela Vie Brand & Website Refresh + Tips for Your Own
How we’re studying 2024’s inquiries, and how you can too
We love year-end; at Sela Vie we depart slightly from the normal business holiday hustle and bustle. During the last two weeks of every year, we hit pause on client work to focus inward on our own rebrand and website refresh!
Why? So glad you asked. Several reasons!
First, I’ve accepted that I’m never going to love our website for more than a year. So, here we are, reimagining it once again—a good exercise for us anyway as a brand and website design studio!
What’s Changing and Why
And second, because aspects of our business model and project processes are changing! So we’ve, accordingly, updated our website copy and pared down (in order to upgraaaaade) the quantity of content displayed on our website. In case you’re considering partnership with us in the new year, or embarking on your own DIY refresh, we want to share with you the BTS details of what it looked like to redraft our website.
Why:
Our services are evolving—more custom branding work, fewer pre-packaged services, and more tailored proposals.
We’re increasing some service prices to reflect the value we deliver.
Our ideal clients are changing—we’re focusing more on full-service design projects and stepping back from smaller, ad hoc ones. We’ve had so much fun working with full-service projects that allow us total creative freedom, so we’re working toward signing on more of those projects.
How:
ChatGPT + Maddie (our project manager and copywriter)
ChatGPT helped us brainstorm a starting point (we tell it about the updates we’re making and ask it to describe the gist back to us),
And then Maddie fine-tuned its content to our updated tone and voice. We wanted the messaging to sound like us (AKA, direct and casual) and to concisely showcase our expertise. While writing, we considered questions like,
Realizing they’re going to skim, what’s most important for our audience to know?
How can we frame this point as promised value from our potential client’s POV?
Does the sum of our content and the order in which it’s presented equal an effective sales funnel?
Can we say the same thing in fewer words (nobody has time for fluff)?
Why Copy is Everything
Your messaging should set the tone for your audience’s perception of your entire business and effectively guide them toward the action you desire them to take.
We live in a digital-first world where it’s tempting to DIY everything and wing it, but lazy copy = missed opportunities. The way you describe your products, services, brand, and yourself can make or break your connection with potential customers and clients.
The Final Result
Here’s a snippet of the new copy with which we’re feeling so confident:
“For founders ready to begin a new chapter, we’re ready for creative partnership. Our work combines distinct beauty with market-savvy strategy to capture your momentum, convert your audience, and boost your bottom line.
“We listen with attention to detail and suit our services to meet your needs and gain you an edge among competitors.
“We’re mission-driven, towing with precision the line between form and function with standout artistry underscored by informed strategy.
“And, dare we say, we provide an enjoyable experience. Our project process is tested, streamlined, and trustworthy–you’ll always know what’s going on, and we’ll always deliver what we promise.”
We’ll keep you posted about the launch of our new site, and we can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
